Modern necklace of wonderful kyanite
Description
I came across these kyanite beads at a bead fair last year. They're more expensive than the gemstone beads I normally buy but I kept going back to look at them and eventually bought a strand. They're a rare semi-precious gemstone. It's such an interesting stone that I've gone for a minimalist design so as to not distract from the beads.
The beads are blue kyanite and none is a single solid colour; there's a lot going on in each semi-translucent bead. They include colours ranging from a royal sapphire blue through to a silvery light blue. Some beads have flecks of the surrounding brown stone from which it was mined.
The 0.5mm beading wire used is made of 21 strands of steel coated in 24 carat gold and then covered in smooth and flexible nylon. The necklace is secured with 9ct gold bolt clasp and matching tag.
